On October 25, shoppers can buy groceries directly from producers at the Dala Dami fair at the Kazanat racecourse in Astana. Organisers previously promised prices 15–20% below market rates at some fairs in the capital (kursiv.media). Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade and Integration announced the fairs. The Republic Day and Bereke Fest promotions offer another shopping option, with discounts of up to 50% on selected goods.

Where to buy groceries from farmers in Astana

More than 140 farmers and businesses are selling their products at the Kazanat racecourse on October 24 and 25. Producers from the Karaganda and Kostanay regions have come to the capital this weekend, bringing more than 3 thousand tonnes of agricultural products.

Shoppers can buy food directly from producers, without additional middlemen. According to the ministry, the fairs help people buy groceries at affordable prices. For farmers, taking part is a chance to reach new markets.

Key figures for fairs and discounts

What discounts were promised at the fairs

Organisers previously promised prices 15–20% below market rates at some fairs in Astana. That range refers to earlier offers at specific venues.

When choosing groceries, compare prices for the items you plan to buy. The earlier promise of discounts does not mean that every item at the October 25 fair will be 15–20% cheaper.

Where else to find discounts

The Republic Day and Bereke Fest holiday promotions run in Kazakhstan until October 27. A total of 649 retail outlets across all 20 regions of the country are taking part. Selected goods are discounted by up to 50%.

These Republic Day and Bereke Fest promotions offer another option for everyday shopping. When comparing offers, check the final price of the item you need: the maximum discount applies only to selected items.

What groceries people buy during sales

Popular purchases during the holiday sales include clothing, footwear, groceries and household cleaning products. Among food items, shoppers in Kazakhstan are buying sunflower oil, flour, sugar and grains. Dairy products and eggs are also popular.

This selection can serve as a starting point for your household shopping list. Check the discount on each item separately.

How long the Dala Dami fairs have been running

The interregional Dala Dami fairs have been held in Astana since September 19. Farmers from the Kyzylorda and Atyrau regions took part in September.

In October, producers brought goods from the Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan and Turkestan regions. The North Kazakhstan, Pavlodar and Ulytau regions also took part.

More than 7.5 thousand tonnes of food were brought to fairs across Kazakhstan this week. The venue in the capital received more than 3 thousand tonnes of that total.

In plain terms

To buy directly from farmers in Astana on October 25, head to the Kazanat racecourse. Holiday promotions at retail outlets continue until October 27.

Before shopping, make a list of the groceries you need and compare the final cost. This will help you choose the right offer for your basket.
