Kazakhstan’s export prices rose by an average of 9% in January–August 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. Raw rubber, rubber and rubber products recorded the biggest increase at 34.5%, LS reports, citing the Bureau of National Statistics (lsm.kz). Some goods, including barley and natural gas, sold for less.

What happened

Price increases varied by export destination. Prices for Kazakh goods rose by 3% for CIS countries and 10% for other countries. Outside the CIS, the increase exceeded the average for all exports.

After raw rubber and rubber, copper and copper products saw the largest price increase at 28.3%. Prices for zinc and zinc products rose by 12.3%, while ores, slag and ash increased by 12.2%.

Price increases by product group

Wool and wool products rose in price by 9.6%, while ferroalloys increased by 9.4%. Oil and crude petroleum products became 8% more expensive, and articles of iron and steel rose by 4.7%. Coal and fuels made from it increased by 3.2%.

Export prices in the “nuclear reactors and equipment” category rose by 6.1%. Electrical equipment became 1% more expensive. Both categories recorded increases below the average for exported goods.

How food prices changed

Dairy products and eggs rose in price by 5.5%, while wheat increased by 3.8%. Sugar and sugar confectionery rose by 3.1%, and flour by 0.6%. Flour recorded the smallest price increase among these food products.

Barley, meanwhile, sold for 15% less—the sharpest decline among the goods listed. Prices for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as vinegar, fell by 2.2%.

What else became cheaper

Natural gas and other gaseous hydrocarbons fell in price by 13.2%. Gas prices therefore declined while oil and coal sold for more. Cotton and aluminium oxide prices both fell by 7.4%.

Lead and lead products became 8.9% cheaper. Prices for certain types of flat-rolled products fell by between 6.3% and 9.2%. Hydrogen and other non-metals declined by 1.3%.

All changes refer to January–August 2026 compared with the same eight months of the previous year.
