Independent video game studio Odd Meter, founded by Dmitry Svetlov and fully relocated to Almaty in 2022, orchestrated one of the largest and most prestigious venture capital funding rounds in Central Asian gaming history. In May 2026, the studio closed a $5 million investment round led by international gaming venture fund GEM Capital and U.S. investment firm Autotelic Ventures.
Global Triumph of the Philosophical Adventure INDIKA
Odd Meter attained worldwide critical acclaim following the release of its third-person narrative adventure INDIKA, published by renowned Polish publisher 11 bit studios in May 2024. Exploring provocative themes of orthodox faith, human duality, and psychological grief, the game quickly became an international cultural phenomenon:
- Nominated for major honors across the global games industry, including recognition at The Game Awards and the BAFTA Games Awards;
- Surpassed 500,000 players worldwide across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S;
- Established an expansive game production studio in Almaty, hiring local 3D artists, animators, sound designers, and narrative writers.
Scaling the Almaty Production Hub
The fresh $5 million capital injection is dedicated to substantially expanding the Almaty studio’s development team and engineering their next major intellectual property. While retaining the studio’s distinctive auteur storytelling and philosophical depth, the upcoming project will feature an expansive world scope, deep gameplay mechanics, and cutting-edge visual fidelity built upon Unreal Engine 5.
