Two cotton processing plants owned by Turkistan Tokyma LLP have opened in Turkestan Region. The company now has four plants in the region, built with an investment of 17,129 million tenge. Regional governor Nuralkhan Kusherov said the plants can process 320 thousand tonnes of raw cotton a year (inbusiness.kz).
What happened
The new plants opened in the settlement of Syrdariya in Otyrar District. They join two plants the company launched last year, bringing its total number of operating plants in the region to four.
The facilities occupy 76.2 hectares in the Turan special economic zone. The investment of around 17.1 billion tenge covers the construction of all four plants.
The plants use Chinese technology. The production process begins with receiving, cleaning and drying raw cotton, followed by separating the fibre from the seeds. The finished product is then pressed and packaged.
What this means
According to Kusherov, the plants can produce 110 thousand tonnes of cotton fibre annually. More than 100 permanent jobs have been created for local residents. The regional governor shared these figures while discussing the development of a cotton and textile cluster — a production chain stretching from cotton cultivation to textile manufacturing.
“A cotton and textile cluster is taking shape in our region, covering the entire production chain, from growing and harvesting cotton to advanced processing, spinning cotton fibre into yarn and manufacturing finished textiles,” Kusherov said.
The governor described the development of these industries as a strategic priority for the country’s agricultural and processing sector. He said the project should expand economic opportunities in the regions and create new jobs. The stated processing and fibre production volumes reflect the plants’ capacity.
Next step: reaching full capacity
The authorities expect the complex to increase advanced processing of raw materials in the region once it reaches full capacity. This should support the production of goods with high added value and boost economic activity in rural areas.
The launch of the two plants continued Turkistan Tokyma’s expansion in Turkestan Region. The company opened its first two plants in 2025. Its four operating plants are now part of the cotton processing chain taking shape in the region, as described by the regional governor.
