$150,000 for 6% Equity: ERA Welcomes Applications for NYC Winter 2027 Cohort

ERA accelerator in New York offering $150,000 for 6% equity investment

New York-based Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator (ERA) is deploying $150,000 in capital to early-stage technology companies joining its Winter 2027 cohort. Applications close on November 2, 2026, with the in-person residency running from January through April 2027.

The financing structure reflects a direct equity agreement. The accelerator secures the right to 6% of company equity through a post-money SAFE instrument. International founders must incorporate a US Delaware C Corporation, commit to full-time venture execution, and relocate leadership to New York City for the program’s duration.

Evaluating $150,000 for Future Equity

A SAFE is an agreement for future equity. The company receives immediate capital, while the investor converts into equity upon a predetermined milestone—typically the subsequent qualified financing round. ERA specifies that its agreement converts into 6% of post-money equity prior to new round capital; future investment tranches dilute this position normally. SAFEs carry no interest rate and do not constitute corporate debt.

For a founder, the strategic assessment hinges on whether ERA accelerates growth beyond what the team could achieve independently. Founders must evaluate the holistic package: seed liquidity, enterprise customer access, and strategic mentorship. The equity price tag must also be assessed relative to prior cap table agreements.

Startups Need a Concrete US Market Entry Strategy

ERA evaluates commercial software and tech-enabled businesses spanning SaaS, fintech, digital health, education, supply chain, and related verticals. While there is no rigid stage limitation, most selected teams possess working prototypes and early traction. Prior institutional or angel fundraising does not disqualify applicants.

The program looks for startups capable of leveraging New York as an operational beachhead. This entails far more than securing a prestigious Manhattan business address. If target enterprise buyers are US-based, the application should articulate prospective accounts, validation milestones, and pipeline contracts targeted within four months.

For example, if an engineering team from Almaty develops logistics optimization software, the application must articulate enterprise pain points, verified demand signals, and reasons why US operators would adopt the platform. Broad declarations of “global expansion” devoid of target buyers carry little weight with selection committees.

Workspace Included; Visa Logistics Fall to Founders

ERA’s format centers on mandatory on-site residency, supplemented by selective hybrid sessions. The fund exclusively writes checks into US C Corporations. Non-US entities must execute an institutional corporate flip into a Delaware parent. Founders are wholly responsible for obtaining US business visas; travel expenses for admissions interviews are uncompensated. Teams must model a realistic participation budget: NYC cost of living, transatlantic flights, and corporate legal restructuring determine net operating runway remaining for engineering and go-to-market execution.

Converting Four Months into Measurable Traction

Curriculum programming includes mentor office hours, KPI tracking, pitch coaching, and investor readiness drills. Participating teams receive dedicated coworking space and partner vendor perks. Cloud infrastructure credits from these partner programs offset software overhead but cannot be converted into liquid cash on company balance sheets.

The culminating Demo Day convenes venture capitalists and angel networks. ERA offers no formal guarantee of downstream financing. Consequently, success must be benchmarked against operational rigor: validating customer willingness to pay, improving retention cohorts, and systematizing outbound sales funnels. Meeting tier-one investors is invaluable, but the closing conversation rests upon verified commercial execution.

Submissions are open via the official Winter 2027 admissions portal. The exact closing hour and timezone are not specified on the landing page, making early submission prudent.
