RAEM.KZ Editorial Policy

RAEM.KZ is an online media outlet (registration certificate No. KZ08VPY00156152 of 06.08.2024) covering technology, startups, business, grants and the creative industries of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Our goal is to give entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and all readers verified, clear information without clickbait or hidden advertising.

1. Independence

  • The editorial team decides on topics and content. Advertisers and partners cannot influence editorial articles.
  • We separate facts from opinions. Expert opinions are attributed with the expert’s name, position and experience; columns are labelled as columns.
  • In disputed situations we seek to hear all sides.

2. Fact-checking

  • We rely on primary sources: official websites and documents of government bodies and companies, public registries (eGov, AIFC, etc.), financial reports, press releases and interviews with people involved.
  • Figures, dates, names and titles are checked against the primary source, and the source is linked in the text.
  • Data that a company reports about itself (revenue, user numbers, valuation) is published as “according to the company”.
  • Non-public information about deals, funding rounds and appointments is published only when confirmed by at least two independent sources.
  • Other media outlets are not a source for us: we look for the primary source.

3. Sources and anonymity

  • We name the people who provide information, with their positions.
  • Anonymity is granted only in exceptional cases — when disclosing a name would threaten the source’s safety or job and the information matters to the public. The identity of such a source is known to the editor-in-chief.
  • We do not publish rumours, insults or unverified accusations through anonymous sources.

4. Corrections

  • Factual errors (figures, names, dates, status) are corrected as soon as we learn about them.
  • Significant corrections are noted in the text: “Updated [date]: the original version stated …”. Typos are corrected without a note.
  • To report an error: editor@raem.kz or ryambek@gmail.com. We review requests within one business day.

5. Advertising, partnerships and conflicts of interest

  • Paid and partner content is always labelled: “Advertising”, “Partner content” or “raem.kz is an information partner”. Such content is never presented as editorial.
  • If the editorial team cooperates with the subject of an article, we disclose this in the text.
  • Staff do not accept gifts or services that could affect the objectivity of coverage. If an author has a personal interest (a stake, consulting, family ties), they disclose it to the editor-in-chief and to readers in the text.

6. Artificial intelligence

  • The editorial team uses AI tools to prepare and translate articles. All facts, figures and quotes are checked against primary sources; the editor-in-chief is responsible for what we publish.
  • We do not use AI to invent quotes, data or events.
  • AI-generated illustrations are labelled “Illustration: AI”.

7. Startup Radar and grants directories

  • Listing a startup in Startup Radar or a programme in the grants directory is free.
  • Paid promotion may be offered in the future; if so, it is always labelled and does not affect card data or verification.
  • Each card shows the level of data verification: verified by the editorial team, stated by the company, or based on open sources.
  • Founders can request an update of their company’s data via the “This is my company” button or by email.

8. Right of reply

If an article affects the interests of a person or company, we give them the opportunity to present their position — before publication, or by updating the article once we receive their response.
