Kazakhstan’s eGov.GPT won GovTech Project of the Year at the AI & Digital Bridge Awards 2026. National Information Technologies JSC, the project’s developer, announced the news on October 3 (nitec.kz). The assistant uses artificial intelligence to find information and relevant government services in response to requests written in the user’s own words.

What happened

The award was presented at the international AI & Digital Bridge 2026 forum in Astana. The category name, GovTech Project of the Year, means “Project of the Year in Government Technology.”

The selection process had two stages. First, artificial intelligence was used to draw up a shortlist of five contenders in each category. A jury then chose the winners through an online vote.

The awards covered seven categories in total. Alongside government technology, awards recognised education projects, startups, AI adoption by companies, international achievements, venture capital investment and creative projects.

What it means

eGov.GPT helps users find the right government service by describing what they need to do. Users can phrase requests in their own words: the assistant is designed to find the information they need and make it easier to locate a service.

This aspect of e-government development concerns access to services. According to NIT, the project aims to use artificial intelligence to make those services easier to use.

“Above all, this award recognises the work of the entire team,” said Shyngys Orazalimov, identified in the announcement as NIT’s acting chairman of the management board.

How the assistant was developed

According to Orazalimov, the team worked actively on eGov.GPT over the past year. User feedback informed the product’s development, and changes were quickly introduced into the live system.

NIT operates the digital government’s information and communications infrastructure. The company also maintains information systems for central and regional government bodies.

The forum where the project received the award took place on October 1–3, 2026, at the EXPO International Exhibition Centre in Astana. It was one of the main international events of AI MONTH — the month of artificial intelligence.
