How to pay for ChatGPT and Claude in Kazakhstan: chatgpt.com accepts credit and debit card payments in tenge (help.openai.com). Claude Pro costs $20 a month or $200 a year, excluding applicable taxes (claude.com). For ChatGPT, check the total and currency before confirming your purchase. If you subscribe through the app, Apple or Google manages your subscription.

How to pay for ChatGPT and Claude in Kazakhstan and check the total

OpenAI officially supports the Kazakhstani tenge for subscription purchases on chatgpt.com. However, local pricing may differ from the US price converted at the exchange rate.

Before confirming payment, check your selected plan, currency and total. Do not budget for a subscription based solely on its dollar price.

Claude lists its prices in dollars. These exclude applicable taxes, so the final purchase total matters when estimating your costs.

Claude plans: how much to pay

How much Claude subscriptions cost

Claude Pro offers two payment options. The annual option requires the full amount upfront, although the page also shows its monthly equivalent.

Plan Payment What to keep in mind
Monthly Pro $20 each month Excludes applicable taxes
Annual Pro $200 upfront Approximately $17 a month, as listed by the company
Max $100 a month Five times the usage available with Pro
Ultra $200 a month The plan’s name on the current page

Twelve monthly Pro payments add up to $240. An annual subscription at $200 saves $40 before applicable taxes. The company warns that prices and plans may change.

Who bills you for ChatGPT in the app

Subscriptions purchased on iOS are managed by the Apple App Store. Google Play handles purchases on Android. Charges appear in local currency.

When checking your subscription, keep in mind where you purchased it: the ChatGPT website, the App Store or Google Play. This determines where you manage the purchase.

How to switch an existing ChatGPT subscription to another currency

An existing subscription continues to be billed in its original currency. Support for tenge does not automatically change the currency of a subscription you have already purchased.

OpenAI’s instructions call for cancelling your subscription and subscribing again once the paid period ends. If you want to switch currencies, first check when that period ends.

How VAT affects subscription costs

Since January 1, 2026, Kazakhstan’s standard VAT rate has been 16%. VAT stands for value-added tax (gov.kz).

For example, if a subscription costs $20 before tax and 16% VAT applies to the purchase, the total comes to $23.20. The additional charge is $3.20. This is an illustrative calculation, not a published final price for Claude in Kazakhstan.

If a price already includes tax, there is no need to add another 16%. Kazakhstan’s State Revenue Committee reported OpenAI’s conditional VAT registration back in October 2025. Registration alone does not determine the tax amount on a particular receipt.

What to check before paying

Put simply, you can pay for ChatGPT by card in tenge, while Claude costs should be assessed using the plan price and final purchase total. Before paying, check the currency, taxes and subscription period. Annual Claude Pro requires $200 upfront.
