Kazakhstani citizens can now apply for the prestigious Chevening Scholarship to pursue a fully funded master’s degree in the United Kingdom for the 2027/2028 academic year. Applications remain open until October 6, 2026, at 11:00 UTC (16:00 Astana time). The scholarship finances a one-year taught master’s program along with comprehensive living, travel, and visa allowances.
Chevening is the UK government’s premier global scholarship scheme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and partner organizations. The exact quota allocated for Kazakhstan in this cycle is determined annually based on candidate competitiveness.
Applicants must identify three eligible UK university master’s courses and document concrete evidence of leadership capacity, professional networking networks, and measurable career impact.

What the Chevening Scholarship Covers
The scholarship covers full tuition fees for an eligible master’s program, return economy flights from the home country to the UK, student visa fees, and arrival and departure allowances. Scholars receive a monthly living stipend tailored to whether their university is situated within Greater London or elsewhere in the UK, adjusted annually for inflation.
The package also provides a travel grant for Chevening events and reimbursement of up to £75 for tuberculosis screening if required. Funding is designated solely for the scholar; familial travel, visas, and dependents’ living expenses are not subsidized.
For MBA programs, Chevening enforces a fee cap of £22,000. If the tuition exceeds this threshold, the candidate or an external sponsor must fund the remaining balance.

Eligibility Criteria for Kazakhstani Applicants
Candidates must hold citizenship of an eligible Chevening country (Kazakhstan is fully eligible) and formally commit to returning to their home country for at least two years following degree completion.
An undergraduate degree equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK must be obtained prior to application. Candidates who already possess a master’s degree remain eligible, and there is no upper age ceiling.
Applicants must have accumulated at least 2,800 hours of verifiable work experience post-graduation over a minimum period of two years. Qualifying work includes full-time, part-time, voluntary service, and paid or unpaid internships across up to 15 recorded positions.
| Chevening AI Warning Policy The Chevening program strictly prohibits the use of generative artificial intelligence (such as ChatGPT or Claude) to draft essay answers. Submissions undergo algorithmic screening for AI markers, plagiarism, and fraudulent generation. Detected violations lead to immediate disqualification. |
Program Selection and Deadlines
Applicants must list three distinct master’s programs in priority order. Programs must be full-time, UK-based, 9–12 months in duration, leading to a master’s qualification starting autumn 2027. Distance learning, PhDs, MRes research tracks, and courses involving over a month abroad are ineligible.
University applications are handled separately by the candidate directly with institutions. To confirm the award, short-listed scholars must secure and upload at least one unconditional university offer by July 8, 2027 (17:00 BST).
