On October 2, during the Digital Bridge forum, the public presentation of the Republican Public Association “National Federation of Digital and AI Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan” will take place. The newly established organization’s debut tournament will feature virtual table tennis powered by the Kazakhstani technological platform AI SPORT: participants perform movements in front of a tablet camera while computer vision algorithms recognize their technique and record real-time scores.
The Federation introduces a novel competitive discipline that merges physical activity, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence. According to the organizers, the program will feature open platform demonstrations, interactive showcases, and the signing of strategic memorandums of cooperation.
How the Tournament Will Unfold
Between 8 and 16 young athletes are scheduled to take part in the AI TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT. Competitors will execute drills featuring table tennis elements directly facing a tablet camera. A computer vision system will analyze each participant’s body mechanics and accurately tally performance points.
The tournament and award ceremony are scheduled from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Winners will receive cash prizes, medals, and certificates of achievement. The exact prize fund has not been disclosed in the official announcement.
This competition represents the Federation’s inaugural tournament, showcasing how modern digital tools and AI can be effectively utilized to organize competitive youth sports.
What AI SPORT Can Do
AI SPORT is a homegrown Kazakhstani technological platform designed for mass sports. Developers highlight that no specialized wearable sensors or specialized hardware are required: a standard smartphone or tablet camera is entirely sufficient.
The artificial intelligence engine processes motion within the frame, validates repetitions, and calculates metrics automatically. The platform enables organizers to conduct nationwide online fitness challenges, marathons, and structured championships.
Visitors at Digital Bridge will have the opportunity to test the technology firsthand: performing push-ups, squats, burpees, and other exercises in front of the lens to observe how the AI model tracks and validates each movement in real time.
This framework bridges digital software with physical exertion: athletes exercise naturally, while computer algorithms convert physical effort into verifiable digital performance data.
Visitors Can Test the Technology
The exhibition zone opens on October 2 at 10:00 AM. From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, organizers will hold open public demonstrations of the AI SPORT engine.
Following the tournament, starting at 3:00 PM, an open interactive session is scheduled for guests, featuring mini-competitions and fitness tests. Attendees can directly experience the platform’s capabilities through hands-on participation.
The President of the Federation and founder of AI SPORT, Gabit Saltybaev, will be present on-site to interact with guests and industry partners.
Partnership with National Sports University
As part of the launch event, the Federation and AI SPORT intend to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Kazakh National University of Sports. Identified areas of collaboration include athletic training, sports science, academic curricula, and the deployment of AI in athletics.
An additional partnership memorandum is planned with SANA SPORT to foster joint athletic and digital initiatives across the country.
The presentation in Astana marks the official debut of the National Digital and AI Sports Federation. Its inaugural tournament will demonstrate how the combination of physical movement, consumer device cameras, and automated AI scoring functions in an actual competitive environment.
