Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has approved Kazakhstan’s plan to develop unmanned systems for 2026–2029. The document sets out priorities for deploying, manufacturing and regulating unmanned technologies. The government bodies responsible must carry out the plan’s tasks and report to the relevant ministry twice a year (kursiv.media).
What happened
The resolution took effect on the day Bektenov signed it. It assigns responsibility for carrying out the plan’s measures and meeting its key targets.
The work falls to central and local executive bodies, as well as state bodies that report directly to Kazakhstan’s president. Those responsible therefore include bodies at both the national and local levels.
What this means
The agencies and organisations responsible have been given a common reporting schedule. They must submit information on task completion to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development. The deadlines are January 15 and July 15 each year.
The ministry will collect information from the bodies responsible and prepare consolidated reports for the Government Office. Reporting thus takes place in two stages: the responsible bodies first submit their data, and the government then receives an overview of progress on the plan.
When the government will receive reports
The ministry has separate deadlines that fall after it collects information from the bodies responsible. It must submit consolidated information on progress in implementing the measures by March 15 and September 15. This schedule allows the government to receive progress updates twice a year.
Reporting on whether targets have been met follows a different schedule. The annual deadline is September 30 of the year following the reporting year. Information on the implementation of measures and data on targets achieved are therefore submitted on separate schedules.
“The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan shall submit to the Government Office consolidated information on progress in implementing the measures no later than March 15 and September 15, and on the achievement of targets no later than September 30 of the year following the reporting year,” the resolution states.
With the document now in force, the responsible bodies must carry out the measures assigned to them. The next monitoring step is to submit information on task completion to the relevant ministry according to the established schedule.
