From October 31, Otbasy Bank will keep its arrangement fee for preliminary and interim loans at 1%. The cap will depend on the loan amount: for loans above 100 million tenge, the fee will be capped at 1 million tenge (lsm.kz). The new terms apply to applications accepted from October 31. Earlier applications will remain subject to the previous terms, and loans already issued will not be affected.
How much will the loan arrangement fee be?
The fee remains at 1% of the loan amount. What changes is how the cap is calculated — the maximum amount the bank charges for arranging a loan.
Previously, a single cap applied to loans of all sizes. From October 31, the cap will depend on the size of the preliminary or interim loan, with the bank setting three bands.
What is the fee cap for each loan amount?
For loans up to 50 million tenge, the maximum fee will remain at 300 thousand tenge. Higher caps will apply to the other two bands.
| Loan amount | Maximum fee | | — | — | | Up to 50 million tenge | 300 thousand tenge | | From 50 million to 100 million tenge | 500 thousand tenge | | Above 100 million tenge | 1 million tenge |
These are the maximum loan arrangement fees. The rate remains the same for all loans — 1% of the loan amount, subject to the cap for the relevant band.
How will the fee change compared with the previous terms?
Previously, the fee was 1% of the loan amount, capped at 300 thousand tenge regardless of the size of the loan. That cap also applied to large loans.
Under the new terms, the cap for loans from 50 million to 100 million tenge will be 500 thousand tenge. For loans above 100 million tenge, it will rise to 1 million tenge.
Otbasy Bank said the decision reflected a fairer approach to setting the maximum fee based on the loan amount.
Which applications will fall under the new terms?
The new caps apply to applications the bank accepts from October 31. Applications accepted before that date will remain subject to the previous terms: 1% of the loan amount, capped at 300 thousand tenge.
The applicable terms therefore depend on the date the bank accepts the application. The previous fee cap will continue to apply to applications accepted earlier, even for large loans.
Will the change affect loans already issued?
Loans already issued will not be affected. The new caps of 500 thousand and 1 million tenge will not apply to them.
In plain English
The rate stays at 1%, while the maximum fee for large loans increases. The 1 million tenge cap applies only to loans above 100 million tenge.
If you are planning to take out a preliminary or interim loan, check the loan amount and the date the bank accepts your application. For applications accepted before October 31, use the previous maximum of 300 thousand tenge. For applications accepted from that date, use the cap for the relevant loan amount.
