On August 29, 2026, the atrium of Nazarbayev University in Astana hosted the high-stakes regional final selecting the startup to represent Kazakhstan on the global stage of the Startup World Cup in San Francisco. Emerging victorious from a competitive roster was DeepTech hardware startup Mirai Tech (BeInTech), the engineering team behind sensor-integrated smart insoles that capture biomechanical telemetry and orthopedic gait patterns in real time.
This competition marks the very first time that Silicon Valley venture firm Pegasus Tech Ventures hosted an official dedicated regional qualifying round in Kazakhstan. The event was organized by the Sustainable Innovation & Technology Fund (SITF) in institutional partnership with the NU Impact Foundation and NU Science & Technology Park (the-tech.kz, digitalbusiness.kz).

How the Sensor-Embedded Smart Insole Technology Operates
Mirai Tech’s core technological breakthrough lies in integrating arrays of piezoelectric force sensors and multi-axis inertial measurement units (IMUs) into durable, flexible shoe insoles capable of withstanding hundreds of thousands of intense foot-strike cycles.
During active walking, sprinting, or occupational movement, the embedded sensors record over 20,000 distinct telemetry indicators every two minutes: impact force distribution, pronation and supination angles, bilateral weight-bearing asymmetry, and ground-contact duration. Telemetry is streamed wirelessly via low-energy Bluetooth to mobile applications and cloud diagnostic engines.
The platform serves three high-value vertical markets: clinical orthopedics (early detection of diabetic foot ulceration and post-stroke gait rehabilitation), professional athletic performance (preventing knee ligament tears through fatigue telemetry), and industrial occupational safety (monitoring fatigue and ergonomics among underground miners and warehouse workers).

The Road to Silicon Valley and the $1 Million Grand Prize
The Startup World Cup, orchestrated globally by Pegasus Tech Ventures under CEO Anis Uzzaman, is one of the planet’s largest startup pitch networks, spanning qualifying events across more than 70 countries. Winning the Astana regional chapter grants Mirai Tech an all-inclusive trip to San Francisco to represent Kazakhstan at the Grand Finale on October 4, competing directly against regional champions from Germany, Japan, Singapore, and the United States for a $1,000,000 investment grand prize.
The triumph signifies an important strategic evolution within Kazakhstan’s innovation ecosystem. While domestic startups historically leaned heavily toward e-commerce clones and localized SaaS, the emergence of ventures like Mirai Tech demonstrates that Kazakhstani hardware engineers and biomedical researchers are capable of developing proprietary, patentable DeepTech hardware with global commercial scalability.
