Astana Hub Battle разыграет четыре гранта по $25 000 среди технологических стартапов

Archival Article. Applications closed on September 6, 2026. This overview was published for historical documentation following the official deadline. Editorial note updated September 18, 2026.

Applications accepted through September 6, 2026 inclusive

Astana Hub launched its international application intake for Astana Hub Battle 2026—the premier startup competition hosted annually as part of the flagship AI & Digital Bridge forum. Four category winners each receive a $25,000 cash grant. The organizer explicitly designates these funds as non-dilutive grants: no company equity, SAFE agreements, or debt repayment obligations are required in exchange.

Applications remained open through September 6, 2026. The competition is not designed for early ideation projects: applicants must demonstrate a functioning Minimum Viable Product (MVP), a formally registered legal entity, and verified market traction—such as paying commercial clients, active pilot deployments, engaged user bases, or secured venture funding.

Eligibility Criteria for Participating Startups

To qualify for competitive selection, a startup must satisfy five mandatory baseline conditions simultaneously:

  • The team must build proprietary technology: an IT platform, SaaS solution, AI model, or scalable software architecture;
  • The product must be at least at the working MVP stage; companies at PMF (Product-Market Fit) and Scale stages are equally eligible;
  • The business must present verifiable demand metrics: paying customers, enterprise pilots, active users, or outside investment;
  • The company must already be incorporated as an active legal entity;
  • The founder presenting the venture must be at least 18 years of age.

There are zero restrictions regarding country of incorporation. International teams compete under identical evaluation rules as domestic Kazakhstani startups. However, the semifinal and final rounds take place in person in Astana; travel, lodging, and logistical costs are borne entirely by the participating founders.

Applying requires far more than a slick presentation deck: judges evaluate functioning code and verifiable business performance data.

Prize Pool and Nomination Categories

The total guaranteed cash grant prize pool is $100,000, divided into four separate $25,000 non-dilutive awards. Founders do not choose their award category upon entry—the independent jury assigns nominees according to product profile and market strengths:

Impact Maker

Dedicated to startups delivering measurable social, environmental, or public benefit in healthcare, education, accessibility, sustainability, and civic technology.

Market Shaper

Tailored for startups disrupting established legacy industries through deep technological innovation or novel business models. DeepTech and generative AI ventures with strong intellectual property barriers are prime contenders.

Growth Engine

Reserved for companies demonstrating outstanding commercial growth: accelerating ARR, rapid user adoption, and repeatable unit economics across domestic or regional markets.

Investor’s Choice

Selected directly by an executive venture capital panel: evaluating team pedigree, addressable market size, defensibility, and return on investment. This category focuses heavily on startups actively raising a venture round within the next 6–12 months.

Corporate partners of the forum may offer additional non-cash awards, such as cloud compute credits or commercial enterprise pilots, though availability and award criteria are established independently.

Selection Process and Stages

The five tournament milestones: application submission, compliance screening, semifinalist notifications, one-minute semifinal pitch, and main-stage finals.

  • August 19 – September 6: Digital application intake;
  • September 7 – 21: Formal eligibility compliance screening and technical evaluation;
  • September 23: Notification of shortlisted teams via email;
  • October 2: Top 50 semifinalists pitch live in Astana (strictly 60 seconds per startup);
  • October 3: 14 finalist startups take the main stage at AI & Digital Bridge (strictly 3 minutes per pitch).

Founders may present in English, Kazakh, or Russian. Exactly one representative from each startup takes the stage during live pitching. The overarching working language of the broader conference is Russian.

Required Submission Materials

  • Investor pitch deck (10–12 concise slides in PDF format);
  • Direct URL link to an active product demo, mobile app build, or video walkthrough;
  • Audited or verifiable business traction metrics (MRR/ARR, registered users, pilot results);
  • Corporate registration credentials and legal entity data.

The official intake form takes approximately 10 minutes to complete online and accepts English, Kazakh, or Russian submissions. Founders are strongly advised to prepare materials thoroughly in advance: the jury prioritizes verifiable traction and product differentiation over rhetorical style.

During the high-stakes one-minute semifinal pitch, founders must instantly communicate problem magnitude, solution uniqueness, and concrete traction metrics.

How to Maximize Pitch Impact

  • Open immediately with an acute customer pain point rather than abstract technical buzzwords;
  • Anchor your pitch around one defining hero metric: verified revenue growth, net dollar retention, enterprise cost-savings, or rapid user adoption;
  • Rigorously separate historical verified achievements from future roadmap projections;
  • Clearly articulate defensibility: proprietary data moats, patentable AI architectures, exclusive supplier partnerships, or deep distribution channels;
  • For the 60-second semifinal pitch, strip out secondary details: focus purely on Problem, Solution, Traction, and Capital Ask;
  • Verify that product demo links open without authentication hurdles or paywalls.

Critical Logistics and Caveats

Participation is completely free of charge and requires no equity dilution. However, Astana Hub does not subsidize travel or hotel accommodations. Shortlisted founders must physically arrive in Astana to compete live on October 2 and 3.

While the deadline is stated as September 6 inclusive, exact closing timestamps and time zones are not specified. Submitting well in advance of the deadline date is strongly advised.

The $25,000 cash grant is awarded exclusively to the four final category winners. Advancing to the semifinal or final pitch rounds does not in itself guarantee monetary compensation or outside capital commitments.
