Jana Post has signed an agreement with Pinduoduo to offer free delivery on select items to Kazakhstan. The company says the option is available for eligible products, with 16% VAT automatically added to the order (digitalbusiness.kz). Shoppers can also switch the app’s price display to tenge.
What happened
The agreement covers items for which the marketplace offers free delivery. Before placing an order, shoppers need to check whether this option is available for their chosen item.
“Our customers can now get free delivery on items for which the platform offers this option,” Jana Post said.
According to the company, delivery times remain unchanged: parcels take 7–14 days to reach Almaty and slightly longer to reach remote regions. Customers can arrange home delivery by courier from the pickup point. All Jana Post pickup points are open until 20:00, and some until 22:00.
What this means for the cost of an order
Free delivery does not remove the tax. Jana Post explained that 16% VAT is calculated automatically and included in the total purchase price. Shoppers should therefore weigh the free delivery terms against the total amount due.
To see the tax charged, tap the question mark next to VAT at checkout — the label the app uses for value-added tax. Explanations of the charges are also available there. Before paying, it is worth checking what you will have to pay for, even if delivery is free.
How to switch prices to tenge
The app now lets users select Kazakhstan’s currency. Open You, go to Settings, then Country/Region & Language. Under Currency, select KZT — the code for tenge — and tap OK to confirm.
Prices on the home page are still shown in yuan. The amount in tenge appears on the product page, alongside the original price in CNY — Chinese yuan. This lets shoppers gauge the cost without converting it themselves.
The built-in converter may produce slight discrepancies. After selecting a currency, shoppers should still check the final amount at checkout against the current exchange rate.
